Appointed Times

These are the LORD's appointed times....

Sabbath

On the seventh day God was finished with his work which he had made, so he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. God blessed the seventh day and separated it as holy - Gen 2:2-3

There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a Sabbath to the LORD. -- Leviticus 23:3

Passover

Then Moses said to the people, "Commemorate this day, the day you came out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery, because the LORD brought you out of it with a mighty hand. Eat nothing containing yeast. -- Exodus 13:3

Passover is also known as the Feast of Liberation, the Spring Feast, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Deliverance and the Feast of Redemption. - Nissan 15

Feast of Weeks

Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath [from Passover], and then present an offering of new grain to the LORD. -- Leviticus 23:16

Called Pentecost since 50 days are counted from the Sabbath following Passover.

Feast of Trumpets

On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of rest, a sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts. -- Leviticus 23:24

The Fall Holy Days begin on Rosh Hashanah or the Feast of Trumpets. Rosh Hashanah is heralded with the sounding of the shofar, or trumpet; it is followed by 10 days of awe in preparation for Yom Kippur.

This is also the Jewish New Year and slices of apple dipped in honey are shared in anticipation of a sweet year.

Day of Atonement

Do no work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the LORD your God. -- Leviticus 23:28

Yom Kippur is a solemn day of prayer and fasting. - Tishre 10

Feast of Tabernacles

On the first day you are to take choice fruit from the trees, and palm fronds, leafy branches and poplars, and rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days. Celebrate this as a festival to the LORD for seven days each year. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come; celebrate it in the seventh month. Live in booths for seven days: …so your descendants will know that I had the Israelites live in booths when I brought them out of Egypt. I am the LORD your God. -- Leviticus 23:40-43

This is perhaps the most joyous of the Holy Days, as it signals the end of harvest.  Also known as Sukkot, the Fall Festival and the Feast of Booths - Tishre 14

It is interesting to note that this Appointed Feast will be celebrated in the New Jerusalem: Then the survivors from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD Almighty, and to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. -- Zechariah 14:16
